Asian Tones

“Founded in March 2021Asian Tones champions and celebrates Asian heritage within the music industry. Based in the UK, Asian Tones aims to shatter stereotypes and bridge the gaps between genres, languages and sub regions – evolving the definition of what being a British Asian in music entails. With a focus on building a strong grassroots live music for the community, Asian Tones runs small shows in London with full Asian heritage line ups, spanning genres from pop to desi fusion to electro-punk and much in-between. Many of our performers have since gone on to be featured in prominent outlets including BBC Introducing, media such as NME, Clash and Rolling Stone; and playing their own headline shows. Asian Tones has previously received sponsorships from PRS for Music and Live Nation Women. In November 2024 Asian Tones was granted funding from PRS Foundation’s Early Career Promoter Fund to run 4 out of London shows.

Music has always been integral to my life since I was young. In my earlier years I was surrounded by the classics of my parents heritage (Assamese) and Bollywood films to classic bands such as ABBA, The Carpenters and The Beatles. To growing up and being obsessed with Disney and then the charts. To connecting with the music scene of my birth country (Australia) and growing a love for live music in my teens years onwards.
The live music industry was something I knew wanted to pursue, many job applications with no responses – I continued on with my life…What started off as a personal project to find artists of similar backgrounds has since turned into a platform that has run 15+ gigs, with 80+ artists from the community showcased. “
