“Rebecca Fiebrink is Professor of Creative Computing at University of the Arts London. Her teaching and research focus largely on how machine learning and AI can change human creative practices. Fiebrink is the developer of the Wekinator creative machine learning software, first developed in 2008 to help musicians build new digital instruments, and now used around the world by tens of thousands of musicians, artists, game designers, and educators. She is the creator of the world’s first online class about machine learning for musicians and artists. Recent research projects involve developing new machine learning tools for gaming and VR, for disabled children building new musical instruments, for electronic music performance, and for art historians, archivists, and curators. Prof. Fiebrink has worked with companies including Microsoft, Smule, and Imagine Research (acquired by iZotope). As a musician, she has a long history of performing in classical and experimental electronic groups, including playing laptop alongside the American Composers Orchestra at Carnegie Hall. She holds a PhD in Computer Science from Princeton University.”
